Not been here for a while as last time I thought it was overpriced and the food not great.Returned this time for a friend's birthday meal and can't say anything as changed my mind. They were really busy and whilst the staff were friendly and efficient the service was very slow - it took over an hour for mains to arrive (there had only been 1 starter).Considering all 13 had pre-ordered and chef had advance notice of what was expected - a lot of people's meals were cold if not tepid. Some asked for food to be hotter but to be honest most people were thst hungry they just ate it.My meal was off the vegan menu and was Mediterranean vegetable tart and sauteed new potatoes- the tart was tasty but very dry and served with fries not the side I'd expected - nothing was said by the server and I didn't realise until I saw the menu again after every one had eaten!Such a shame my food experience wasn't great - just thankful my visit was with good company
Friendly, welcoming inn with lovely warm log fires. Food is great and the children's menu has a good selection and large portions.
Hadnt booked a table (Sunday lunch time), but we were welcomed in by the friendly staff and basically seated straight away. Drinks were offered as we were seated and menus, including the specials menu were left with us. The Waitress came back and took our order and it wasn't too long before our starter arrived (black pudding stack), which was very tasty. The main course arrived piping hot and freshly cooked, I had the sea bass off the specials board and my partner decided on the lamb encroute, both of which were full of flavour and tasted sublime! We shall go back to try what we didn't have this time.
Absolutely loved our stay here...lovely room. And a fabulous meal. We will stay again
